Direct Cremation

What is a direct cremation?

A direct cremation is an unattended cremation without a ceremony.

They are an option for families looking to remove the stress of arranging a traditional funeral.

For some, they prefer to hold a ‘celebration of life’ or memorial service to mark the life of a loved one instead. Cremation only funerals are also a low-cost option, removing the fuss and allowing those left behind to come to terms with their loss in their own way. At every step, we care for and deliver the most sympathetic service to you and your family.

Lel and Sarah were the first funeral directors in Somerset to offer direct cremations especially this year with so much uncertainty and tighter regulations on funeral attendance, many of our families have chosen this way to lay their loved ones to rest and then celebrate their life at a later time.

All cremations take place at Sedgemoor Crematorium which means that your loved one is not transported half way around the country to a central hub. The care of the deceased is exactly the same as it would be for any other of our funeral plans but no-one attends on the day. Families can still choose the day the cremation takes place but not the time.
